Preamble
This site contains a micro-history of the Chinese diaspora through the lens of my family's departure from Southern China and their eventual dispersion throughout the Pacific (and beyond). I hope that these records show the reader that it was through risk, circustumstance, persistence, and good fortune that my predecessors were able to secure a better future for their progeny.
The material referenced here is an extension of a private project to digitise my family tree. There are personal records, type-written letters, esoteric texts, photocopies of photocopies etc., some of which I crudely transcribed with the intention of extending their lifespan.
